Safety professionals are being reminded that they only have until 30th January to comment on WorkSafe WA’s new Work Health and Safety Bill 2014.
WorkSafe WA Commissioner Lex McCulloch said he was looking forward to reviewing feedback from the public.
“Western Australians are being given the opportunity to contribute to the State’s future workplace safety and health system, and I strongly encourage anyone who has an interest in this area to submit their comments while the opportunity exists,” Mr McCulloch said.
“The draft Work Health and Safety Bill 2014 – known as the Green Bill – was tabled in Parliament in October 2014. It is the WA version of the national Model Work Health and Safety Bill, the harmonised legislation developed by Safe Work Australia for implementation across Australia.
“The Green Bill has been drafted to include the core provisions of the Model WHS Bill, but has been refined to reduce red tape and ensure it is in the best interests of WA businesses and the WA community.”
The public can submit comments on the application of the Bill to a particular job, workplace or industry, or specific work safety and health issues. Comments can also be on complete rejection of the bill or certain sections of the bill.
