Compensation Claim App For Injured Workers

Launched in August 2014, the Worker Assist app is an Australian first now used by over 2,500 injured Queensland workers with over 14,000 logins recorded in October alone.

The app, which enables injured workers to track the progress of critical elements of their compensation claim including upcoming wages payments, medical expense reimbursements, medical and rehabilitation appointments and flight or accommodation booking details if they need to travel for treatment.

Workers can also use the app to submit a medical certificate, medical expenses receipt or other document straight from the app simply by taking a photo. Additionally, Tax File Declarations can be sent directly from the app without the need to print and sign forms.

WorkCover General Manager Ms Irene Violet said Worker Assist supports an injured worker through the life-cycle of their claim and allows them to ask real time questions to their claim manager direct from the app.

“Providing direct access to claim information allows workers to stay focused on their rehabilitation and return to work without having to worry about when their next appointment or payment is due,” Ms Violet said.

“Worker Assist is a great example of how online services are supporting WorkCover’s commitment to getting injured workers back to meaningful work quickly.”

WorkCover Queensland are achieving one of Australia’s best return to work rates with over 90% of injured workers returning to work within 12 months of lodging a compensation claim.

“Our online services, such as Worker Assist, recognise that many injured workers want the convenience of being able to track their compensation claim anywhere, anytime because the longer they are off work the more this impacts their family life and costs employers in increased premiums,” Ms Violet said.

WorkCover Queensland is gaining significant traction for its suite of online services with over 92,500 employers now renewing their workers’ compensation premiums online.

Over 93 per cent of Queensland’s 8,000 largest employers are also using WorkCover’s online services to track costs associated with compensation claims, simulate changes in premium calculations and access information on previous claims.

The Worker Assist app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and from Google Play for both iOS and Android operating systems. There are both mobile and desktop versions.
