If you’re heading to Perth this weekend be sure to be on the lookout for the Mine Emergency Response Competition at Langley Park. They’ll be a range of mines rescue teams testing their skills and raising money for charities.
The eighth annual Mining Emergency Response Competition will run from 23 – 25 November 2018.
This free community event showcases amazing real-life demonstrations of emergency rescue by emergency response volunteers from across Western Australia. With a record 18 competing teams, sixty sponsors and over 120 volunteers, MERC 2018 will be the biggest MERC to date! This year the next generation of emergency responders, WA junior firefighting cadets, will be also be demonstrating their skills in an interactive display.
MERC provides valuable skill building opportunities for volunteer mines rescue teams, by providing a series of realistic scenarios, simulating real life events, covering all emergency response disciplines; road crash rescue, hazardous material response, vertical rescue, firefighting, confined space, emergency team readiness and first aid.
Bring the kids as the event caters for all ages, with plenty of free activities for the kids, including rock climbing, face painting, bouncy castles, fire hose target games and colouring-in competitions.
Support the emergency responders who volunteer their time and skills to keep our communities safe!
