With severe weather warnings and localised flooding across Queensland and many parts of the country, motorists are being reminded that if it’s flooded – forget it.
There is currently a flood watch for all coastal areas between Townsville and Bundaberg, and flood warnings have been issued for the Fitzroy, Thomson, Barcoo, Diamantina, and Georgina rivers. The flood watch also extends inland to Charters Towers and Charleville.
The SES is advising all motorists to check weather radars and warnings on the Bureau of Meteorology site before travelling long distances through Queensland over the next few days, and not to attempt to cross flooded roads.
Most Council websites will have information on local road closures or you can visit the government’s traffic and travel information website: www.131940.qld.gov.au
