A worker has been killed in an incident that took place this morning at the Boggabri open cut coal mine in New South Wales.
According to the Naomi Valley Independent, the 40 year old worker is believed to have sustained severe head and neck injuries, “possibly from a falling structure”.
Three ambulance crews attended the unconscious man on site just before 9am this morning, however resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful and the man died at the scene.
The Naomi Valley Independent reports that police are currently investigation and that mine managers are holding a crisis meeting. The open cut coal mine is owned by Idemitsu Australia.
